Genuine GF Smith Extract paper in Pitch Black — a deep, true black shade with a refined uncoated finish. Extract was developed using CupCycling technology and contains 20% fibre recovered from used disposable coffee cups, turning a difficult waste stream into premium creative paper.

The CupCycling Story

Extract was created through GF Smith’s CupCycling process, which separates usable paper fibre from the plastic lining of disposable coffee cups — a waste stream that is notoriously difficult to recycle. Extract incorporates fibre recovered from used disposable coffee cups through the CupCycling process, giving those cups a second life as premium creative paper rather than sending them to landfill or incineration.

The finished paper contains approximately 20% CupCycled fibre alongside virgin paper fibre, is uncoated and recyclable as paper. FSC Mix certification applies to the range.

Printing & Finishing

Extract Pitch Black is suited to a wide range of printing and finishing methods. White, silver, gold and metallic inks and foils contrast dramatically against the black base and are particularly effective for luxury stationery and brand work. Note that standard dark inkjet inks will not be visible — use light-coloured or metallic inks, or specialist printing methods.

For professional finishing, Extract Pitch Black is well suited to:

• Lithographic printing (with appropriate inks)
• Silk-screen printing
• Letterpress
• Hot-foil blocking — gold, silver and white foil are especially striking
• Blind embossing and die-stamping
• HP Indigo (subject to appropriate treatment)

Home inkjet printing is not recommended for most applications on black paper — standard inks will not show. For home use, consider white gel pen, white ink or foil transfer methods instead. Allow any inkjet output to dry fully before stacking.
